Striperfest Education DayStriperFest 2015 is an annual auction and banquet to benefit Cape Fear River Watch.

Education is an important component successful fishery restoration. Our fun activities focus on the Cape Fear River’s incredible anadromous fish and the importance of restoring our fishery restoration.

Come have a GREAT time with us!!
-Build a model of a rock arch rapids like the one at Lock & Dam #1 on our Cape Fear River

-Make a mobile of the anadromous fish found in the Cape Fear River

-Using a cane pole and a magnet catch a fish and see if you can identify them

-Learn Gyotaku – the Japanese art of fish printing

-Explore the internal and external anatomy of fish

-Design your own fish on a stick

-Using microscopes and aquatic organisms learn how scientists determine water quality

-Learn about various fishing rods and practice casting your line into a hula hoop target

-Explore the migration patterns of striped bass in the cape Fear River

-See how the Division of Marine Fisheries biologists place tags in the fish to monitor their activity!

-Face Painting!
