Party Planning Tips

Parties aren’t cheap, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be thrifty! These party planning tips allow you to plan cheaply.  One of the most common mistakes in planning parties in the false assumption that throwing money at a party automatically makes it better. Don’t be fooled. Let these money-saving tips make your party the bee’s knees.

Be your own planner

There’s a time and a place for a planner (think weddings) but not every party or event would require one. In fact, we would suggest planning the party yourself in most cases. There are a number of helpful guides and writeups located online that can be your beacon in the dark.

Set a budget

Create a budget and follow it. Be firm with your budget but also realistic. This can be done by planning out the cost of each individual object of the party and doing your research before fully committing to an idea.

Don’t mail invitations

Mail invitations? What is this, 1955? Do away with costly mail invitations and instead email your invitations. Not only is it cheaper, it is environmentally friendly. These invitations can be customized to your heart’s content. We suggest adding links to websites containing relevant information like directions and menus.

Money-saving food tips

There are several ways to save money here, so take this as a large opportunity in your party planning venture. The largest tip is to plan the party at a convenient time. Unless your gathering is food-related, try to schedule it at a time between meals. This way, you can prepare a single food item (cake, platter, etc) instead of feeling obligated to provide your guests a full-blown meal.

Additionally, single-pot food items that can be collectively prepared and served are much easier to make and save valuable time and money. Dishes that are great for this are dips, soups, and pot roasts.
